Bye Bye Nancy Drew

OK, OK,
I admit it, I'm a hoarder collector.
Books, photos, bric-a-brac, patterns, EVERYTHING!
My home is filled with vintage stuff, lots of vintage stuff.
I don't know why I collect stuff, I just do.
My parents collected stuff, my siblings collect stuff, my girls collect stuff.
I was out yesterday collecting stuff with my youngest daughter.
OMG it's a family affliction!!!

Well...
We had a Thanksgiving lunch with my husband's family at my house on Thursday.
His sister Gina has never been here before so she was exploring every nook and cranny.
So much stuff to see. Floor to ceiling stuff.

After much exploring she discovered my bookcase, (7 foot tall by 6 foot wide) mostly mysteries.
She honed in on my vintage Nancy Drew collection, seems she collects Nancy Drew also.
I have several from about 1957 through 1970.
I loved Nancy drew when I was a kid, the challenge of trying to figure out where the story was going, who was the bad guy, I love me a good mystery. (Who, what, where, when & why, my favorite W words)

She pulls them out to have a look see, checking out which ones I have that she doesn't.
She's coveting my Nancy Drew's!!!!

We look through them, discuss how we both loved them as kids and I put them back away.

After she left I got to thinking, why not give them to her, she would treasure them.
I collect so much stuff, why not share?
So bye, bye Nancy Drew.

Seems I'm not the only hoarder collector out there.
What about you?
What's your collection, obsession?

Till next time,
Bonjour

What a lovely thing to do! That's the spirit of the season. I didn't grow up here, so I never read Nancy Drew. But I know I would have loved the books. A good mystery is always right up my alley.--Inger

I felt so grown up when I graduated from the Bobbsey Twins to Nancy Drew. I think my mom still has all of those old books -- at least, I hope so. That must have stung a little to give those books away -- from one hoarder to another. ;)

Inger and Nancy,
When she pulled those books out I was nervous, I've had them for about 20 or so years. Couldn't get them back to the bookcase fast enough.

But I knew she would really treasure them, so why not? I have so much in the way of treasures.
We went to see them today. She was totally astounded when I gave her the books, it was worth it to see how happy she was.

Hi, Terry. I ran to the garage today after seeing Pop bringing in the mail, your box under his arm. It's like a egg hunt with him and the mail. You never know where you'll find it,if you ever do, and what shape it will be in.But when I got there, he was telling his coffee drinker friends,"That's her soap. I could smell it when I got it out of the mailbox." He was telling the fellows about your soap making, and our gift swapping. He doesn't let on like he hears when I talk about such, but by what he was sharing,I see he must have heard some of it.Men!Thanks a bunch for the extras. They are so nice.I have been using the Midnight Oasis, from our gift swap, and I love it.This is the season for my nails to shine, so the cuticle cream is going to be used on a regular basis. You're the best.Merry Christmas!
