Life & Soap Shows

Nathan's pomegranate tree

SO.....

It's soap show time!!!

You never know what is going to sell.
For the last several years, our dominant category in all products was floral
and that's where I concentrated my efforts.
The trend this past spring was fruits and spices, seems that trend is continuing.
Our demographic is widening, we're all over the page now.
Customers that were hard sells previously are now purchasing our products.
Not just the soaps either, all our products are selling better.
Personally, I've been feeling the earthy vibe for awhile.

Something I have noticed is,
when I'm formulating a new scent, and purchasing
the scents for it from my local supplier,
a few months later they are selling "that" scent pre-blended.
I've even noticed them naming the scent pretty close to, or the same as mine.
I order under my Co. name, pretty easy
to go to my site and see what I'm up to.
Whatever...
My husband says I should be flattered.
Again, whatever!!

Yesterday's show was great with lots of sales and today was spent
making more soap, etc.
I have four more shows for the year and I foresee my immediate future
filled with soap bubbles.

Oh yea,
I was contacted yesterday by a local B&B for soap.
We shall see where that goes.

My morning view from the surreal world (work)
Till next time,
Bonjour

Oh, I hope you get a huge order from the Bed and Breakfast!! And I hope you sell out at all of your shows. Wish you lived closer..we're having our annual Renn Faire and would love to have some of your soaps there. Sometimes our soap vendor shows up sometimes she doesn't.

Hi Lynda, our local spring ren fest has several soap vendors. Like about four!

I hope the B&B does well, I love repeat business.
Thanks for the well wishes.

good luck with the orders terry, yeah i get you "whatever" id be slightly annoyed too that my time figuring out something was then "stolen". i made 32 shampoo/shaving soaps last weekend, getting ready for xmas. at the markets natural soap is selling for $5 a bar, these ones made with that good by i got a month or so back have cost 23 cents per unit minus any labour cost. soap seems to be a popular thing here too, people like all the immpractical ones, made like a cupcake, how are you supposed to wash with that?? lol.

Terry, you do have some wonderful fragrance blends in your products. I'm getting low,and Christmas is right around the corner.Your soaps make nice gifts for friends and family.Keep up the good work, girl!!You are a good soap maker.(I had to throw that in. My 6 yr. old grandson, told me lately,"Meemaw you are a good quilt maker.",and that crossed my mind as I was writing my comment to you).

Hey Brendie-yes it is frustrating having your ideas stolen, I see it quite often.
Good for you being able to get your cost that low, I wish I could do the same.

Thanks Sue, It's nice to hear words of encouragement!

Hey Leontien, I used to watch the soaps back in the day only they didn't make me money like these soaps do!!! Haha.
Hang in there girl.

I hope the show goes well! It must be interesting to see which types of soap are popular at particular times of the year. It is flattering that the supplier likes your scents, but it is also annoying. You created them, so I think you should get some of the credit.

I'm so happy that your business is doing well. It's always a plus when you can supplement your hobby by selling some of the products. :)
