SOOOOO...

I started making tamales yesterday, corn husks are soaking, chopping the patty pan squash, peppers ETC adding the tomatoes from canning day, dicing chicken, the only flaw was....  Nate needed my attention.
A couple of games of Backgamon some Dominoes, several hey Grandma, look at this, hey Grandma, when are you going to get off the computer (yes, I can cook & compute at the same time) hey Grandma, I'm hungry, hey Grandma, will you make me a smoothie?

OK, I GIVE UP!!!
The corn husks will be fine soaking over night & at least I got the filling made & into the fridge.
Took Nate over to his other Grandma's later, then RESTED!!

I tried making tamales once. What a mess! They did not turn out. I could have used the masa as wallpaper glue. Congrats on yours!

Hey Denise - I view recipes as a place to start. Masa is like flour, the less the humidity the more the liquid.
I love your blog, you bring the patterns to life. You have inspired me!
